Covid-19, Italy imposes travel ban from India

Minister of Health signs ordinance banning entry into Italy for travellers who have been in India over the last 14 days

"I have signed a new ordinance banning entry into Italy for those who have been in India over the last 14 days. Residents of Italy will be allowed to re-enter with a swab test on departure and arrival and with a mandatory quarantine. Anyone who has been in India over the last 14 days and is already back in our country is required to undergo a swab test, by contacting the prevention departments. Our scientists are working to study the new Indian variant.

We cannot let our guard down. Friday was the record day for cases worldwide, with 893,000 positive cases, 346,000 of which were in India".

Health Minister Roberto Speranza made this statement to explain the new measure in force untill May 12, 2021.
